We offer an AAA-approved, self-paced Avalanche Level 1 curriculum for guides and operations, eliminating nightly lectures with season-long access.

Curriculum Overview

Curriculum Description
Mountain Training Center offers professional operations and independent guides the ability to purchase our Avalanche Level 1 curriculum for their students, eliminating the need for nightly lectures while allowing students to learn at their own pace. The curriculum remains accessible for review throughout the season and has been approved by the American Avalanche Association, ensuring it meets industry standards. This provides a flexible, high-quality educational resource that enhances both instructional efficiency and student learning.
How it works

Following the submission of the Provider Application, MTC will send an email with a link to your customer payment profile. Within the profile, you are required to add your operations preferred payment method. You will be charged for the total number of students that access the program either at the end of the month or end of the season.
When filling out the Avalanche Level 1 Request Form, please list the maximum number of students that your course can host. Even if you’ve only got 16 sign ups but might have 18, fill out the form for 18. This allows for flexibility in-case more students sign up last minute.
Your operation will only be charged for the student codes actually used. If only 12 students end up signing up but you requested 16, you’ll be charged for 12. No down payment or deposit required.

We offer both A3 Accredited and Non-A3 Accredited versions of this course. If you/your operation is already accredited, you can simply notify A3 of your intent to use our curriculum.
If you/your operation is not accredited, you can apply to A3 and list Mountain Training Center as your educational curriculum provider.
If you/your operation has no desire to become accredited, you can utilize our non-A3 accredited version. If doing so, you are not allowed to market the course as being A3 approved or recognized

To ensure guides/operations meet our standards, Mountain Training Center offers 1:1 training as well as annual courses to educate instructors on our platform, curriculum, and standards. All operations a required to attend an annual training
